All visitors to Angola are strongly advised to travel with an organisation. Leisure travelling on your own is not recommended! Furthermore you should register at your embassy on arrival and de-register on departure for safety reasons.
Even after the end of the Civil War in 2002 the crime rate in Angola is still very high and it is quite dangerous to explore the country without an experienced guide. Armed robberies still occur, especially at night, as well as during the day. So make sure you check the travel warnings on the website of your Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Activities
You should plan your activities well and take trips under the guidance of a tourism organisation!
Additionally, you should visit Angola during the summer and not during the rainy season from November to April. In April heavy rainfalls and strong storms are common. So, if you are planning to do a safari or visit one of the wonderful National Parks, you should avoid the rainy months.
During city trips be careful when taking pictures, especially of public buildings like transport facilities or military and police equipment. This is prohibited and in the worst case you can get arrested.
