Student visas
Prospective students who are enrolled, or wish to enroll in Angola’s education system will need to apply for a student visa that will allow them a stay of 1 year, with multiple entries. Applicants cannot engage in commercial activities, and does not qualify the applicant for residence.
The visa applies to all levels of education from primary, to university degrees. It can be extended until the completion of studies
Required documents:
- Completed application form, including applicable fees
- Letter to consulate outlining reasons for application
- Passport with at least one year validity, and two blank pages
- 3 recent passport photos, name on reverse
- Photocopy of passport pages containing migration stamps/information
- Vaccination history issued by accredited medical authority (must include yellow fever)
- Criminal record, and a Portuguese translation
- Medical certificate of good health, issued by accredited doctor
- Declaration of commitment to obey Angolan laws (in Portuguese)
- Proof of financial self-sufficiency, and of accommodation
- Confirmation of enrollment in school, university program or internship
Work Visas
Expats who have obtained a temporary work contract from an Angolan registered company must apply for a work visa. Their dependents/spouse must apply separately for a Temporary stay visa.
The work visa entitles the holder to stay for 12 months, and can be extended twice with multiple entries. The visa is only valid for pursuing the professional activity mentioned in the contract.
Required documents:
- Completed application form, including applicable fees
- Passport with at least twelve months validity and two blank pages, plus 2 copies
- Letter of invitation from an Angolan registered Company addressed to the Consular section of the local embassy of Angola; plus; a copy sent to the Office of Migration and Foreigners requesting the visa, which must contain: Full Name, nationality, date of birth, passport number and expiry date, profession and function to perform.
- Letter of endorsement in portuguese from the Ministry of Public Administration, Employment and Social Security for public sector jobs
- 3 photocopies of passport pages containing migration stamps/information
- 3 recent passport photos, name on reverse
- Criminal record, and translation in Portuguese
- Medical certificate of good health, issued by accredited doctor
- Vaccination history issued by accredited medical authority (must include yellow fever)
- Declaration of commitment to obey Angolan laws (in Portuguese)
- Full contract of employment (in Portuguese), must include cover letter
- Certificates of all relevant qualifications (translated into Portuguese)
- Resumé/Curriculum Vitae (translated into Portuguese)
Residency visas
The residency visa is designed for expats and foreign nationals who want to stay in the country whilst undergoing the process of gaining full resident status in Angola.
Residency visas allow expats to stay in Angola for periods of 120 days at a time, renewable in periods of the same length. The visa can be renewed in this fashion until a decision regarding the permanent residency permit has been made.
Residency visas allow the holders to participate in commercial ventures, and grants multiple re-entries to Angola.
Required documents:
- Letter to consul (in Portuguese) requesting, and justifying the need for, a residency visa
- Passport with at least 9 months validity
- Complete application form
- Two passport photos
- Photocopy of passport pages containing migration stamps/information
- Photocopy of vaccination history issued by accredited medical authority
- Criminal record, and translation in Portuguese
- Medical certificate of good health, issued by accredited doctor
- Declaration of commitment to obey Angolan laws (in Portuguese)
- Proof of financial self-sufficiency
