How to apply for work visa for Australia

• I am 25. Canadian.
  Looking to work in Sydney, Australia Summer 2009 (August). Hoping to stay for 1 year.
  
  I am a university graduate with a major in Economics and minor in Communications. I have recently finished a graphics design and advertising certificate program.
  
  I am looking into finding jobs in the graphics design/advertising field in Sydney.
  
  Is it difficult to apply for work permit in Australia?
  I am not sure which work permits are eligible for me...
  The work/holiday visa isn't the optimal choice as I can only work 3 months with an employer.
