Higher education in Oman?

• Hi everyone,
  I'm really not informed....but are there higher schools and universities in Oman? Please tell me something about it, cause I'm considering studying in Oman...if it's possible.

  I am considering working as an ESL teacher in Oman, no matter if a school or homeroom teacher. I am also skilled at taking care of children, so can mix the two jobs. Any chance?

  I would suggest you start your ESL career by learning to spell !!
  
  However, if you are already qualified as an ESL teacher, there are plenty of places here to teach at. However.....
  Most do not sponsor you; As most ESL teachers are wives, who are here on their husbands visa.
  Very few ESL teachers get housing allowances, and rents in Muscat have recently become very expensive.
  
  School or homeroom teacher (assuming you have a Degree in Education, or teaching) is possible - all the major schools have web sites, and you can just try your luck applying. The British school I believe however gets on average 100-150 applications this way per year !!!

• Hi!...salary range..in oman

  I am a Faculty working in oman for the past one year...here salary for the Faculties are not much highly paid....Also no consideration of Levels as per experience...Lecturers with 5 years Plus and with 10 years plus are assigned as Lecturers only...Salary range..if u come through Agency contract...Lectures with 5 and 10 years experience will get same salary--1000 Omani Rials per month/without accomodation and transport..better prefer Public university--Sultan Qaboos university is better in oman..
  Doctorates with 5-10 years of experience will get nearly 1100 Rials only..hardly difference of only 100 Rials..I advice all the peoples coming to oman better come through Direct recruitment than Agency contracts in the Government collges in oman.Faculties and Lecturers,Professors who decided to come to oman especialy from INDIA-must think twice to sign the contract--your knowledge and profession will never improve for long duration of stay...only ur knowledge will decline...
  So think Knowledge or Money?
  Many Indians from all over the states are here staying for more than 10 years---really they cant work anywhere in the world with Gulf experience in Teaching....Read more about Dhofar university...u can find in Avoid dhofar university in oman ..in Google search and read..u will know it..thanking you.

  You are right but the need and greed of individual compell them to stay in Oman. I my self was in Oman only for three months,the agency administered termination.I return back,I am permanent faculty that is why no problem but jobless people will go ?
