After obtaining my license as a Registered Nurse in the Philippines on June 2005 at Cebu City Philippines, I immediately applied at Sabater General Hospital and was eventually accepted as Nurse 1 with Nursing Responsibilities and Care of patients admitted at the hospital.

As an Emergency/Medical Nurse, it is important that I am certified on a yearly basis on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training as well as certification in Basic and Advanced ECG reading needed as part of the health-care team in attending the needs of patients entering the E.R. I also regularly assist the resident physician in performing suturing and amputation procedure in patients admitted from industrial accidents. In cases of pregnant patient’s admitted at the hospital, I am called for to assist in the process of normal spontaneous delivery and post-natal care of the mother and the baby. I am familiar with procedures like Dilatation and Curettage (D & C) performed in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding. KNOWLEDGE ON EQUIPMENTS AND MACHINES

12-L ECG: attaches electrodes (V1-V6) to patient’s anterior chest wall and limb leads (AVL, AVR, AVF) to patient’s upper & lower extremities.
Suction Machine: used in patients with copious respiratory secretions as in those on tracheostomy tube/ventilator support.
Naso-Gastric Tube Insertion/Lavage/Gavage: properly and systematically inserts NGT’s and checks correct positioning and patency prior to performing NGT lavage procedure in patient’s with gastric bleeding and NGT gavage patients on osterized feeding.
I.V. Insertion: As an Acute-Care Nurse, it is imperative that I am well-versed in performing intravenous catheter insertion in patients whom I.V. fluids are requested by the attending physician at the E.R.
Intramuscular/Intravenous/Subcutaneous/Intradermal Injections: performs the following procedure as in giving vaccinations, allergy testing, and parenteral administration of medicines.
Foley/Straight Catheter Insertion: performs the selected procedure in the presence of the attending physician in patients complaining of voiding problem as in neurogenic bladder and those patients post-surgically on general anesthesia.
Blood Pressure Reading: a basic yet important procedure I have learned to master even during student days.
Blood Sugar Monitoring: checks patients’ fasting blood sugar using a portable blood sugar monitoring device.
Fleet/PNSS Enema: performs enema procedure on requested patients undergoing colonoscopy procedure and prior to giving birth.
Nebulization/Oxygen Administration: properly assemble the equipment and administer nebulization procedure on patients as per physician’s order to patients’ suffering from acute respiratory difficulties related to an acute asthmatic exacerbation.
