applying for a job
-
Hi,
I do not know much about the available nurse posts, but I think that the following information, although basic, can be of help to you.
Switzerland is different from other countries like Australia, regarding immigration, because to immigrate to Australia first you have to get your residence permit (passing the point test), and only after that you can apply for a job, or have better chances for getting a job. On the contrary, in Switzerland you first need to get a job, and then the employer gets, or helps in getting your residence permit. So your first step should be to get a job.
In order to get a job, you should contact potential employers here. You can do that on the internet, sending a letter or email along with your CV or resumé. If your intention is to work in a hospital, you could contact someone working there, and ask for advice. Normally you can find the contact data of people working in hospitals, specially in the research areas.
Be advised that there are at least 3 different regions in Switzerland, characterized by the local official language they employ: german, french and italian. So, the knowledge of one of these three local languages would be an advantage. Doctors and nurses are usually able to speak good English.
Maybe it is convenient to have your qualification homologated to the Swiss equivalent before applying for a job. I do'nt know. Perhaps you can apply the same, and say that you'll homologate your degree in the near future.
Another thing to take into account is that if you hold an European Union citizenship, you are entitled to come to Switzerland and stay for some months looking for a job.
Some comments: there is a big spanish speaking community in Switzerland, at least in the Basel area. So it is my guess that your services here will be appreciated. Also, many Swiss like and speak good Spanish.
Ask, ask, ask. This is the best way to clarify which is the best way to reach your goals.
